Students Earn National Recognition in Annual Marshall Brennan National Moot Court Competition
Southern University Law Center (SULC) is celebrating a major win on the national stage as Abby Alvarado, a junior at Broadmoor Senior High School, clinched first place at both the Regional and National Marshall-Brennan Moot Court Competitions.
Alvarado, who has demonstrated outstanding skills in legal advocacy, first competed in the regional competition hosted by SULC, where she faced off against students from high schools across Baton Rouge. After securing the top prize, she advanced to the national level to represent the region in Washington, D.C., where she competed against students from across the United States. In a remarkable display of legal reasoning and public speaking, Abby once again emerged victorious.
The Marshall-Brennan Project, which empowers high school students to become civic leaders through constitutional literacy and advocacy, has recognized Alvarado's dedication, preparation, and poise in the courtroom.
The Law Center expresses immense pride in Abby’s accomplishments and acknowledged the hard work of its fellows and advisors who have supported her journey. The Law Center also had the distinct honor of hosting both the regional and national competitions this year, further demonstrating its commitment to shaping the next generation of legal leaders.
Abby was joined in celebration by her principal and federal judges at the award ceremony, as well as her dedicated support team of fellows and advisors.
This year’s Marshall Brennan Fellows were Law Center students Isis Willis, Destiny Singleton, Diana Copeland, Kirsten Goodman and Kandice Asbury.
