Prof. Nedzel gives presentation, joins SUS delegation to establish ties with Brazilian universities
Prof. Nadia Nedzel recently served as part of a Southern University System delegation to Brazil during which time she gave a presentation at Bahia State University on the role played by African American women in the law.
Nedzel’s Thursday, March 9, 2017 presentation was given in honor of International Women’s Day. The purpose of the delegation’s trip was to formalize relationships with two different universities in Brazil for the purpose of creating student and faculty exchange programs.
Other members of the delegation included President-Chancellor Ray Belton, SUBR Vice Chancellor Benjamin Pugh, Board Chair Ann Smith, Board Member Leon Tarver, SUBR Dean Barbara Carpenter, SUAg Vice Chancellor Dawn Mellion Patin, SUBR Dean Dana Carpenter, and SUBR enrollment management director Michelle Hill.
Nadia Nedzel holds the Kevin P. Reilly Family endowed professorship at the Southern University Law Center. Prior to coming to SULC, she was the director of graduate legal studies and exchange programs at the Tulane University Law School. Her interests include international and comparative commercial law, policy, and jurisprudence; specifically the interrelationship among market economy, technology, the rule of law, and personal autonomy. She has been a visiting research scholar at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at Cambridge University and a Fulbright Senior Specialist, teaching comparative contract law and legal drafting in Santiago, Chile. She has also taught or lectured in Mexico, France, Austria, Singapore, Turkey, Russia, and China.
