SBA Panel Discussion on President Trump and Executive Authority
The Student Bar Association hosted a lunchtime discussion titled The Rule of Law and Executive Power Under the Trump Presidency on February 13, 2017, at Noon in Room 130. Pictures from the event can be viewed here.
Panelists for the event included:
Professor Alfreda Diamond, who is the Justice Revius O. Ortique, Jr., endowed professor of law at the Southern University Law Center where she also serves as the vice chancellor for Institutional accountability and faculty development. She is an expert in constitutional law and federal courts and has written widely on issues related to the desegregation of higher education.
Professor Lauren Aronson, an assistant professor of professional practice at the LSU Law Center where she runs the immigration law clinic. In this capacity she supervises students as they represent immigrant clients seeking humanitarian-based immigration benefits in the United States, including Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, protection under the Violence Against Women Act and refugee protection. Her research interests focus on the treatment of immigrant children, particularly unaccompanied children, under US immigration law.
Professor Raymond T. Diamond, who is the Jules F. and Frances L. Landry distinguished professor of law and the James Carville Alumni professor of law at the LSU Law Center and where he also serves as the associate dean for institutional assessment and faculty development. He is an expert in the areas of constitutional law, race relations, and legal history and his scholarship in the area of the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms has been cited twice by the Supreme Court of the US.
