Profs. Nixon-Jones And Odinet Make Presentations at the American Association of Law Schools Conference
Professors Latisha Nixon-Jones and Chris Odinet recently made separate presentations during the American Association of Law Schools’ annual meeting held from January 3-7, 2018 in San Diego, CA.
Nixon-Jones participated on a panel titled “A Unique Approach to Access to Justice: Training Lawyers Ready to Serve.” The discussion highlighted specialty programs targeted at allowing law students to serve their respective communities. Nixon-Jones discussed her work with the Law Center’s Disaster Clinic.
Odinet’s panel was titled “The Future of Money: Exploring Innovative Technology and Design in Banking”, which was hosted by the Section on Financial Institutions and Consumer Financial Services. During this panel, Odinet presented his paper, ConsumerBit Credit and Marketplace Lending, which was selected from a national call for papers.
Professor Nixon-Jones is a frequent speaker on disaster law, small business and entrepreneurship, and estate planning. She is currently serving as an Equal Justice Works/Americorp fellow at the Law Center and runs the disaster law clinic. Professor Odinet is the Horatio C. Thompson endowed assistant professorship of law and is a frequent speaker on issues related to mortgage finance, real estate, and consumer financial protection. He is a 2016-18 Louisiana Bar Foundation Scholar-in-Residence and recently was appointed as an inaugural real property scholar with the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law.
