SU Board of Supervisors extend endowed professorships to faculty and administrators

At the April Southern University System Board of Supervisors meeting, vice-chancellors Regina Ramsey-James and Shawn Vance, along professors Willmai Rivera-Perez and Marc Roark were recently approved for endowed professorships at the Law Center. These awards are given based on research and scholarly contributions to the Law Center.
The following are the recent professorships that were granted:
- Ramsey-James – The Charles Hatfield Endowed Professorship
- Vance – The Justice Revius O. Ortigue Endowed Professorship
- Rivera-Perez- The Kendall Vick Foundation Endowed Professorship
- Roark – The Louisiana Outside Council Health and Ethics Endowed Professorship
Ramsey-James serves the vice chancellor for institutional accountability and accreditation and an associate professor. She joined the Law Center faculty in 2007 after serving as director of career counseling and development.
At the Law Center, Vance holds the position of vice chancellor for academic affairs and an associate professor. He serves as the faculty representative for the Law Center on the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Committee on Bar Admissions. He also serves as the chairman of the board of directors for the Louisiana Resource Center for Educators.
Rivera-Perez is an associate professor of law. Before joining the Law Center faculty, she was an associate at the Marchand Quintero legal firm in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her research focuses on comparative law, constitutional law, Latinx Critical Theory, transitional justice, international law, human rights law, sociology of law, and mixed legal jurisdictions.
Currently, Roark is an associate professor and senior fellow in the Native American Law and Policy Institute. His areas of expertise are property, urban, and commercial law. Beyond the Law Center, Roark is also an editor for Hedgehogs and Foxes, a law and literature website for the American Bar Association, and a board member for the Association of Law, Property, and Society.
