SU System Day at the State Capitol is March 31

Southern University System (SUS) students, faculty, staff, retirees, alumni, and other friends will gather in downtown Baton Rouge at the Louisiana State Capitol, Thursday, March 31, 2016, to showcase the University and to rally support for SUS and higher education.
“We look forward to highlighting the contributions and impact the SU System has on the State of Louisiana and on the nation in terms of return on investment and in the way of improving lives. We also want to use the opportunity to thank legislators for their past support, and encourage their continued backing of higher education,” said SU System President-Chancellor Ray L. Belton.
SU System Day at the Capitol activities will include campus and alumni exhibits in the rotunda of the State Capitol beginning at 10 a.m. A rally on the Capitol steps featuring the “Human Jukebox” SU Marching Band and cheerleaders will held at 1 p.m. Speakers for the rally include Commissioner of Higher Education Joseph Rallo, President-Chancellor Belton, SUS student and faculty representatives, several legislators, and SU Alumni Federation President Preston Castille.
The Baton Rouge campus will offer round-trip shuttle bus service from the campus to the Capitol, departing from the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
“We invite the Jaguar Nation to come show your SU spirit and make your voices heard at SU Day at the Capitol,” added Belton.
