SULC Pro Bono Project volunteers assist holiday public service effort

The Southern University Law Center Pro Bono Project and 48 student volunteers, along with Prof. Wendy Shea, assisted with “Pack the Pantry” on Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Zachary Food Pantry.
The event allowed students to help in feeding countless families who are in need throughout the holiday season. “With everyone’s help, we were able to fulfill all of the needs of the Zachary Food Pantry, which included unloading, stocking, and sorting food and pre-filling bags of canned goods,” according to Prof. Donald North, coordinator for the project.
With the outpouring of SULC support, the pantry was able to complete this holiday effort ahead of schedule. “Most importantly students learned that pro bono work does not have to interfere with course studies,” North said.
