Membership
The Southern University Law Review only accepts those students who have proven themselves exceptional in legal research, writing, and analysis. Accordingly, invitation to the Law Review is only extended to those students fulfilling one of the following two requirements:
Grade-On
Invitation is extended to the Top 7% of all Full Time Day students who have completed at least 29 credit hours.
Invitation is extended to the Top 7% of all Part-Time Day and Evening Division students who have completed at least 41 credit hours.
Write-On Competition
Invitation is extended to eligible students who successfully compete in the annual Write-On Competition. A participant in the Write-On Competition may become a member by submitting a comment or casenote of publishable quality as determined by the Editorial Board.
Full-Time Day Division Eligibility
1L participants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher at the time of their acceptance at the end of the summer.
2L participants must have a cumulative grade point average of a 3.2 or higher at the time of their acceptance at the end of the summer.
Evening/ Part-Time Day Division Eligibility
Participants who have completed two (2) years must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher at the time of their acceptance at the end of the summer.
Competitors who have completed three (3) years must have a cumulative grade point average of a 3.2 or higher at the time of their acceptance at the end of the summer.
Competitors who have completed one (1) year in the evening/part-time day division and one (1) year in the full-time day division must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the time of their acceptance at the end of the summer.
SULR Streamlined Citations
All competitors must have completed at least two semesters to be eligible for admittance onto the Southern University Law Review. An academic semester pertains to fall or spring semester; summer semester is not an academic semester.
