Two Baton Rouge students participate in 2016 Marshall-Brennan National High School Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., April 8-10

Wilneisha Cavalier, an 11th-grade student at Scotlandville Magnet High School; and Maya Jones, a 10th-grade student at Southern University Laboratory School, participated in the 2016 Marshall-Brennan National High School Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., April 8-10.
The competition was hosted by American University Washington College of Law. Sixty-two high school students from across the United States argued before lawyers and judges on the First Amendment issue of freedom of speech and expression. Cavalier placed among the top 20 participants earning a position in the semifinal round.
Cavalier and Jones were the winners of a regional moot court competition that was hosted by the Southern University Law Center/Louis A. Martinet Foundation (SULC/LAMF) Marshall-Brennan Project. Their coaches were SULC students Kendall Knight and David Jones.
SULC/LAMF Marshall-Brennan Project is sponsored by the Louisiana Bar Foundation, Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, Judge Wilson Fields, and attorney Luke Thibodeaux.
